As I enter my 40’s, I am realizing that my carefree outlook on skin care just won’t cut it any more. I now I have some catching up to do! Being a mom with three kids, life can get busy and sometimes the last thing I have a chance to do is take care of my appearance. I mean, by the end of most of my days, I am struggling to even get my teeth brushed! I hope and think most moms can relate? For me, the skin care was one of the first things to go. Until now that is. Age, and all my glorious Florida beach days have caught up with me. It is time to address some issues, and quickly.
Being in the health and wellness industry myself, I have networked with and met some amazing people on my journey thru nutrition. A few months ago, thru a friend of a friend, I came across an esthetician who took one look at my skin, sat me down, and began a treatment that I had never even heard of before, Microdermabrasion. She said I badly needed it. I was at her facility, (with no kids) and she had no more clients for the day. It was a win-win. Ok, this was her field of expertise and I had to agree, my skin wasn’t looking too young and vibrant these days. So, I sat in her chair and have been back three times since.
What are microdermabrasion treatments?
Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks.
- Improve age spots and black heads.
- Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin).
- Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance.
- Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
- Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
- Treat acne and the scars left by acne.
Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. This was the selling point for me. Collagen is a protein in your skin that’s abundant when you’re a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, unfortunately, resulting in looser, uneven skin. I am terrible at daily moisturizing, remembering sunblock (although my kids surely never go with out it) and washing my face before bedtime. However, I can squeeze in an hour a month for this amazing microdermabrasion treatment that helps so much to rejuvenates my skin. Moms usually spend a great deal of their lives caring for others, and hardly caring for themselves. I’d like to remind you that you deserve it! Kick back, relax, get a microdermabrasion treatment and turn back time a bit. My skin hasn’t looked or felt this great in years!
